Resumen:
The paper first discusses theoretical aspects related to cultural competence, its components and its development, and next it analyzes a selection of widely used EFL coursebooks to determine the presence of intercultural reflection and the extent to which this competence is promoted in them. Additionally, possible ways of supplementing the coursebook when this component is absent or only partially present will be considered.
