The aim of the talk is to make the audience familiar with the concept of research in the field of Second Language Acquisition and Teaching, to present different areas or strands of research and to illustrate these with examples of recent work from scholarly journals. The areas of research chosen will focus mainly on those of special interest to EFL teachers, as it is my intention to bring theoretical findings closer to the practitioner and to reflect about their possible impact on the classroom.
