Resumen:
In this workshop we will demonstrate the possibility of learning to read in Dutch and German on the basis of an elementary knowledge of English as a bridge language. After a brief reference to the nature of intercomprehension, the criteria for text selection and the principles for the design of activities we will give participants a taste of the type of tasks that can be implemented in order to start developing their intercomprehension in two related languages. The tasks will centre around the topic of artistic expressions so as to resort to the learners? background knowledge together with their linguistic and formal schemata as the main resources.
