Resumen:
As teacher trainers we perceive that trainees experience a number of problems when attempting to explain and evaluate what they observe in classrooms in the light of the theoretical concepts dealt with in the methods course. The purpose of the proposed paper is to argue for the merits of focussed observation tasks as opposed to unstructured global classroom observations. This will be supported by means of data collected from reports on observation tasks written by trainees at two teacher training institutions in Córdoba.
