bstract:RATIONALE: Sauroine is a Lycopodium alkaloid. During the last years thesekinds of alkaloids has gained great interest for their complex moleculararchitectures as well as due to their acetylcholinesterase activity. Is knownthat drugs that inhibit acetylcholinesterase, can be used to treat earlystages of Alzheimer disease.METHODS: Saurione was isolated from aerial parts of Huperzia saururus(Lam.) Trevis. Electron ionization mass spectrometry (EI-MS) (LowResolution) and collision-induced dissociation tandem mass spectrometry intime (CID-MS/MS) fragmentation was conducted by an ion trap, GCQ Plusmass spectrometry with MS/MS. EI-high-resolution mass spectrometry(EI-HRMS) was performed in a magnetic sector mass spectrometerMicromass VG.RESULTS: Using GC/EI-CID-MS/MS we obtained the differentfragmentation routes that connect all the ionic populations.
