Resumen:
Chemical studies performed by our research team on Flaveria bidentis (L.) O.K. has shown that sulphated flavonoids and thiophenic derivatives are found among its main components. Among the former, the main ones are quercetin tetrasulaphated(QTS) and quercetin acetyltrisulphate (ATS). Both have proved to inhibit aldose-reductase, an enzyme that takes part in the process of formation of cataracts in diabetics patientes. In the present study, taking structural association with ather anticoagulant derivatives as a guidline and taking advantage of their solubility in water, and the non-toxic character of this family of compounds, their anticoagulant activity was assayed in ordee to obtain natural anticoagulant products resulting from our native flora.
