PLD/PA MODULATES PROLINE METABOLISM DURING COLD RECOVERY.IN BARLEYPeppino Margutti, M., Vilchez, A.C., Racagni, G., Villasuso, A.L Dpto. de Biol. Molecular. UNRC. Río Cuarto (Cba). Email:mpeppino@exa.unrc.edu.arProline (Pro) is involved in adaptation, signaling and recovery of plants during the processes of biotic and abiotic stress. Some results from our laboratory would indicate that PLD/PA modulated proline levels and ROS. The aim of this study was to determine PLD activity and proline metabolism activities ∆1- pyrroline-5-carboxlyate synthetase (P5CS) and proline dehydrogenase (ProDH). Barley seedling exposed at 4ºC for 36 h were transferred at 25ºC for 1-5 h. Cold seedling exposition by 36 h evoked an increase on 200 % proline levels. In contrast, the proline accumulation did not showed significant changes observed of seedling by recovery treatment. Also, ProDH activity was hyper stimulated during 1 h on cold recovery. In relation to this, under this condition, PLD activity increased. Finally, pre-treatment seedling with 1-butanol (inhibitor PLD activity) and exogenous PA application changed proline levels and ProDH activity. The results obtained allow us to suggest that PLD/PA regulates the proline metabolism in barley on cold recovery.
