Resumen:
In this presentation we will give an overview of our recent investigations based on the near and far field optical properties of plasmonic (noble metal) nanostructures.Firstly we will present a novel ultrasensitive optical bionanosensor with a widespreadcapability for antigen detection. The biosensor is based on the controlled agglomeration offunctionalized Ag nanospheres generated in the presence of a biotinylated immunoglobulin acting as linker between these nanoparticles and the inhibition of the agglomeration in the presence of the specific antigen and the changes in the near field optical response (extinctionspectra).Secondly we will discuss core-shell plasmonic nanostructures with an active media silica core, in order to assess the geometries, excitation wavelengths and gain values that compensate plasmonic losses and give rise to near field enhancements and optical amplification with unprecented levels of enhancement. Finally we will give our recent research on the interesting optical phenomena produced by the interaction between a plasmonic nanostructure such as noble metal (Ag, Au) sphere and a highly damped plasmonic nanosphere (Fe, Co, Ni) . It will be demonstrated that this interaction give rise to a new hybrid mode (ferroplasmon) that give rise to significant enhancement when illuminated at the peak of this mode.
