Resumen:
Due to their many potential applications, in recent years there have been an increasing interest in studying hybrid systems composed by an optically active media and plasmonic metamaterials. In this presentation we will focus on a particular system which consist of an optically active silica core covered by a gold shell. We found that the spaser condition, where spaser is the acronym for surface plasmonamplification by stimulated emission of radiation, can be calculated from the poles of the scatteringcross section of the system. Similarly to that found by Stockman in the quasi-electrostatic limit, we found that the spaser conditions always fall on the curves giving the full loss compensation conditions of the gain versus wavelength plots. We explored over a wide range of parameters, that cover most of the usual experimental conditions, the gain needed and the wavelength of the spasers that can be produced by the studied hybrid systems. This can alsobe used to set these systems as optical amplifiers. Our results could be useful in numerous applications,in particular, for experiimentalists studying similar systems in both, tuning the experimental conditions and interpreting the results.
