p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0pt -11.7pt 0pt 0pt">Different clinical parameters which included cell-mediated immune (CMI) response, were evaluated in a model of disseminated cryptococcosis in rats. The experimental animals were pretreated four days prior to their exposure to Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii with either heat killed cells of this yeastlike pathogen (HKC) or capsular polysaccharide (CPS) emulsified in complete Freund adjuvant (CFA). Rats treated with HKC-CFA and intraperitoneally infected with C. neoformans var. grubii had significantly better clearance of yeasts from
