font size="1"> Our previousstudiesshowedthatthesubcutaneouspretreatmentofratswithheatkilled cells of Cryptococcus neoformans (HKC) emulsifiedincompleteFreundadjuvant(CFA)pro- motes protectionagainstanintraperitonealchallengewithviable C. neoformans. Inthis model, anappropriateactivationofadherentperitonealcellsafterantigenictreatmentis very importantforthecontroloftheinfection.Here,weinvestigatedtheimmuneresponse developed inspleenandlymphaticnodesasaresultoftreatmentwithHKC-CFA,which might alsocontributeintheprotectivephenomenonofthistreatmentagainstcryptococ- cal infection.Theresultsshowthat,comparedwithadjuvantalone,ratswhichreceived treatment withHKC-CFApresentedagreateractivationofadherentspleniccells,with up-regulation ofmajorhistocompatibilitycomplexclassII(MHCII)andCD86expression and secretionofanticryptococcalmeta
