The main objective of this work was to study an inclusion complex between enalapril (ENA), and beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) in solid state.
Inclusion complexes were prepared by liophilization method in the 1:1 molar ratio. The physical mixtures (PM) were also prepared in the same ratio.
The full characterization of the complex was performed by powder x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and solid state nuclear magnetic
resonance. These techniques confirmed the formation of an inclusion complex between ENA and beta-CD in the solid state, as well as showed the amorphous
nature of the solid obtained. When studying the chemical stability of ENA complexed to beta-CD, a clear stabilizing effect was observed.
