This handbook is an attempt to provide students of English Language I withlanguage learning and practice material for Unit 4: Food and Health. It containsa great variety of speaking, reading, listening and writing activities that will helpstudents practise the four skills in an integrated way when they deal with themain subtopics related to the unit. The handbook is divided into 8 mainsections: Food, Eating Habits, Healthy vs Junk Food, Health, The Body,Keeping Fit, Injuries and Illnesses and Treatments so that students can learnabout different aspects of food and health in an organised way. Each sectionbegins with a list of the main learning objectives and subsections. Learningstrategies are included so that students learn how to control and improve theirown learning. Phrasal verb and sentence transformation activities are alsoincluded throughout the handbook. At the end of each section, students will findreference to the online resources of the virtual classroom (VLE) that will helpthem further practise the topics and a checklist that will help them revise andcheck their progress. We hope that this handbook can help students learn thetopic of the unit and English in an enjoyable way.
