Resumen:
his article presents a review of Recent Advances in the Study of Spanish Sociophonetic Perception which is a collectivevolume with avant-garde contributions that look into the interface of sociolinguistics and Spanish phonology from the point of view of perception. The aim of allthe studies in this work is to address questions for which previous research with afocus on production has not found an answer; in fact, according to Chappell, thesimplest of all questions that are still unanswered is perhaps: What meanings dophonetic variants carry?
