Resumen:
The rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has had a major impact on second language teaching and learning. Thus, there are growing demands on teachers and students to become technologically literate and to adopt new roles. In view of this, the objective of this paper is to shed light on some of the ways in which the grammar teacher may exploit the resources offered by ICTs today. More specifically, our presentation will first tackle the new role of the teacher when using ICTs. Second, we will refer to the new types of literacies EFL teachers need to master when employing ICTs. Third, we will mention the role of the computer in this new paradigm and, finally, we will refer to the implications of the integration of ICTs into the teaching of grammar. Taking these new roles and literacies, and their implications into consideration will allow teachers to reap the full benefits of ICTs, which is a challenge for those who aim at increasing students? motivation, encouraging independent learning, and helping them achieve higher levels of performance.
