Resumen:
This handout is an attempt to provide students of English Language I with language learning and practice material for Unit 2: Housing. It contains a great variety of speaking, reading, listening and writing activities that will help students practise the four skills in an integrated way when they deal with the main subtopics related to the unit. The handout is divided into eight chapters ?House and Home, Different Kinds of Dwellings, Parts of a House ?Furniture and Appliances, Describing the Place/Area Where You Live, The Perfect Home, Owning vs. Renting, Living Alone vs. Sharing Your Room/House, Living in the City vs. Living in the Country? so that students can learn about different aspects of housing in an organised way. Each chapter begins with a list of the main learning objectives and its sections. Explicit teaching of key learning strategies is included so that students learn how to control and improve their own learning. Phrasal verb and sentence transformation activities are also included throughout the handout to offer students further practice with the verbs and structures learned in their textbook Upstream B2 (2011). At the end of each chapter, students will find a list of the main online resources of the VLE that will help them further practise the topics and a checklist that will help them revise and check their progress. We hope that this handout can help students learn the subtopics of the unit in an enjoyable way.
