Resumen:
Definitions of literacy include the idea that literacy implies the ability to deal with the written word. However, literacy involves more than the ability to read and write a message (McKay, 1993). it entails the ability to function effectively in a group, to widen cultural knowledge, to become aware of cultural differences, to develop critical thinking, among others. In this context, the aim of this paper is to propose literary texts and authors that can be grouped together in a multicultural reading anthology for literature courses in EFL teacher-training programmes.
